If someone told you they made the best bearings for electric motors, what would your response be? If you’re like most people, you would probably ask, “Why are yours the best?”
There are a lot of ball bearings on the market—from manufacturers large and small. Some are made entirely of steel, while others, like ours, are hybrid bearings made with steel rings and ceramic balls. In general, most electric motor mechanics and other experts will agree that ceramic hybrid bearings are superior to steel bearings. They last longer, allow electric motors to operate with greater efficiency, and are electrically non-conductive. But what separates one ceramic hybrid bearing from another?
The most important aspect of a ceramic hybrid bearing is the ceramic balls themselves. At CBR Bearing, we use only high-quality, aerospace-grade silicon nitride balls. Other manufacturers of ceramic hybrid bearings use lesser-quality ceramic balls, which can fail, leading to costly damage of electric motors. Our ceramic balls will not chip, fracture, or fail—even when operating under harsh conditions.
The cage design of our ceramic hybrid bearings is also superior to most other bearings on the market. Our larger bearings (50mm bore size or larger) have a two-piece stamped steel cage that has proven to be very durable in electric motors. Our smaller bearings have a precision-molded, high-speed cage that also performs extremely well.
The radial play in every bearing we sell is measured to the tenth of a thousandth of an inch using precision test fixtures, and all raceways are micro-polished, so the bearings perform with less friction. In the final assembly of our bearings, we take great care to fully grease all raceway surfaces and the inside surfaces of the cage. We typically use Mobil Polyrex EM, although other types of grease are available by request.
If all of that wasn’t enough, our ceramic hybrid bearings are also some of the most affordable bearings on the market—especially when you purchase bearings from us directly. Other bearing manufacturers require you to go through a bearing dealer or some other middleman, but you can order our bearings right from our warehouse. We keep many of our bearings in stock (typically those with a 100mm or smaller shaft size) and ready to ship out same day. Larger sizes can be built and sent out in a matter of days (not weeks, or even months, like other manufacturers will often quote you).
We challenge you to try to find another bearing on the market that is as high quality as our ceramic hybrid bearings at an affordable price point. We think you’ll find that in all aspects, our bearings really are the best option for electric motors!
